Round 11: Mosport Empty Round 11: Mosport

Post by ChrisEagor Tue Apr 19, 2016 11:38 am

After what was the most controversial race his year, Christopher Bryant stole the win at Indianapolis away from James Dalton. This was Bryant's third win of the season, and he is your points leader. There were some penalties given out by the ISCC officials as well as a reported injury.

Let's start with the reported injury. Michael Cavagnaro took a nasty impact in the short chute after Turn 3. He and James Dalton were battling for position, but both were looking to pass at the same time. Cavagnaro and Dalton were making contact, and Dalton spun Cavagnaro to the guardrail. Cavagnaro's impact is almost 190 MPH. The injury is non life-threatening, but he will be out for Mosport. Matt Mackay will take over the 33 for the race. Cavagnaro will return for Pocono and the rest of season after the IES concluded the European Tour. James Dalton finishes runner-up in the race. The wreck was a racing deal.

There were two penalties given out. The first was Baron Praxis. Parxis was trying to go up the field. Valentine and Kumori were battling for position, then Praxis forced it three-wide in Turn 3. Praxis bumped Valentine, and the 6 car went up to Kumori, causing a crash with more than ten cars collected. Praxis caused the third caution of the race after the second restart. No one was hurt, but Praxis was slapped with a 15 points deduction and a 5-race probation. Praxis will also start in the rear of the field. The second penalty was for Alissa Kirby. Kirby and her teammate and champion Ray Kreiger were battling to get up the field. With less than 4 laps to go, Kirby divebombed Turn 3 and took out Kreiger. She did not let off the throttle at all. This season, Kirby stole two wins away from Ray Kreiger at Willow Springs and Gateway. Kirby and Kreiger are a bit contested than ever. No one was hurt at the accident. Kreiger DNFed, and Kirby went on to finish the race at 9th in green-white-checkered. Kirby was slapped with a 15-point deduction and a 5-race probation. She is also starting in the rear in Mosport. This is big for her, because she would have been behind Bryant by 1 point. This is proved to be a costly move by Alissa Kirby in Indianapolis.

Now for the race, IES and Junior Series are hitting to Canada before the IES takes the European Tour. After this race, there are seven more races to go. There are a couple of hometown favorites: Kip Pitt and Paul Swanson. Mosport is a very narrow track, but it is not difficult to pass. Drivers, right now, need to gain all the valuable points that they can get before the Big Four in the schedule. Since the Junior Series is trending with point shuffling especially the leaders, we are not going to surprise to see a different points leader. Qualifying for Mosport will go up soon.
