Season 4 Silly Season

Post by ThundertheDragon on Fri Apr 29, 2016 4:00 pm

Yep, it's that time of year again. The time where we wonder what's going on with all the drivers and teams for next season. Remember that this isn't signups! those will come later, much later.

Just like in Slim Jims, teams will be allowed to have two drivers split one car in an effort towards the championship. There are also part time cars, which will run 4 races of their choice, while also being granted free entry into the Sony 400.

Hamilton finalizes lineup

Hamilton Autosports has finalized their lineup for Season 4. All of their current drivers will be returning, but Alan Cavagnaro will be scaling back to a part time effort in order to focus on the Slim Jim Series.

Masterson signs DeCock

With Danny Everett announcing his departure from the team, Ian Masterson was left with a hole in his lineup. He has decided to fill that gap by signing current CBM driver Jacques DeCock for Season 4.

The Canadian has not had the best of seasons this year, and with CBM in apparent trouble, DeCock was left looking for a ride. Wanting to stay in the series, he jumped on the opportunity when he was given an offer from Masterson.

DeCock has 1 win to his name, coming at Grand Detour back in Season 1. He almost won at Daytona this year, but was edged out by Carl Sanner in a photo finish.

CBM to pull out, new team emerges

Cybertron Motorsports has had a lot of success in the IES, but that will unfortunately be coming to an end in Season 3. BMW announced last week that they would be scaling back their presence in the ISCC, effectively dropping support for CBM in the process. This week, Silverfox announced that he would be pulling out of full time competition, and likely closing the doors on his operation. It's unfortunate, but sometimes things like this happen to great teams.

CBM has a shot at the championship in their final season, as DJ Kurtis has been a very real contender all year.

There have been reports of a new team trying to join for a while, and following CBM's announcement, this mystery team has finally revealed their identity.

The new team is Shelly United Motors, a team owned by driver James Shelly that currently competes in the Junior Series. They will be expanding their operation to compete in the IES in Season 4. There will be 3 cars, two of which will be driven by current Junior driver Tamur Delic, and Dodge driver Jeffery Finguy. The third car is unknown at this point.

More information coming soon...

SUM signs Kurtis

In an announcement that shocked everyone, James Shelly announced today that he has signed DJ Kurtis for next season. This is a huge deal for them, and if their name wasn't already on the map, it certainly is now.

Kurtis is one of the most experienced drivers in the ISCC, and will be a huge asset to SUM. This year, he has been in the top 5 in points all year, and is currently a championship contender. However, he was going to be left without a ride for Season 4 despite this due to CBM closing their doors at season's end.

DW Motorsports to possibly make a move into IES?

Post by Phyco_Ghost on Wed Aug 10, 2016 7:59 pm

DW Motorsports owned by Dajon Weeks in the Pennzoil Pro Series, Gillette Cup Series, and the Verizon Cup Series, plans to bring in the #21 and the #4 Mustang in IES (if I'm allowed to).

Added the list of part time teams.

@Weeks The roster is pretty much full, sorry. :/
However, I may want you for the PT Pontiac Team.

I'll think about the Ride. I feel that I'm better than a part time driver.

BMW Enters Factory Effort

It's old news that BMW isn't as interested in the IES as they used to be, with them pulling manufacturer support support from CBM last year, leading to their closure.

However, it seems that they're not entirely done, as it was announced earlier this week that BMW will be entering a factory effort to compete in Season 4.
The team name is BMW Team Deutschland, and they will be entering one full time car, and one part time car. They have yet to announce any drivers.

Dodge to sign Acosta?

It is currently unknown who will be joining Paul Shafer's operation next year, but there are now a few rumors starting to come around.

The most notable names to come out of this are James Silverfox and Ryan Acosta.
Silverfox announced that he would no longer be competing full time after Season 3, but it's not unusual for a driver to change their plans.
Acosta is a rather curious one, as the ex-Sony IndyCar driver hasn't seen much success as of late. It was announced recently that he would not be returning to Young Motorsports in Season 4, leaving his future in question.

More info coming soon...
