2016 Round 0 - Pre-Season Testing @ Catalunya
Before we begin the 2016 Season of Formula X, we would like to explain the preseason test results. Day one was in the Medium Compound tires. Day two was in the rain, and the third and final day is in the brand new Ultra Soft Tires that determine whether or not the Ultra Softs will be utilized this year. With that said, onto the results of Preseason Testing.
DAY I
Day one was an interesting day, as we had anticipated Aric Silverfox, Diago Power's test driver, to reach the top of the leaderboards. Unfortunately, he did not achieve it, as Brave Fast Racing's Eduardo Santos took the top spot. Meanwhile, Subaru had a very rough start as the Medium Compounds were too cold, and the car had a number of tire punctures. Troy Gooding shocked the world in the underpowered American United as he places the car in P10, a very promising start for the AUR team.
Day II
On day two, RavenWest's Rebecca Davies, obliterated the field in the rain session. Aric Silverfox was showing a lot of speed down the straightaway, but lacked so much grip in the corners. Regardless, he finished second. Hiroki Kazi has proven that power is not the key to winning, as he places third on the charts in the Honda-powered Harachi. Despite the issues Volkswagen's been having with their engines, Rasmussen did outpace Jack Hamilton's Mercedes powered Crow Motorsports machine. With 5 minutes to go in the session, Hansen lost it in the first corner, and stalls the Master Card Lola in the sand.
DAY III
RavenWest once again proves to be the better team, as Davies takes the top of the leaderboard in the Ultra Soft Compound Session. Troy Gooding's American United Racing vehichle suffers several tire problems as the car keeps tightening up in the corners, thus dropping AUR outside the top ten in this session.
Conclusion
Considering the potential problems that the Ultra Softs might give, Formula X Officials have decided to deny the idea of Ultra Soft tires being apart of the 2016 season, as it could reminisce the disasterous 2012 Season, when tire explosions was a huge problem throughout that year. Above all, we should anticipate a very competitive year in Formula X and we will see you in Canberra.
